Hotfix - 3 Oct, 2018

Hey everyone,

Just a quick patch here resolving some noted bugs, tweaking some numbers, and adding some minor UX improvements. Many thanks to Failnaught for their devotion to bug hunting. I really do appreciate every suggestion, report, or even comment on the game. :)

On request from a user on Reddit, I have segmented the 32 and 64 bit versions for Linux. I didn't realize it was double the size! OSX still remains with the single version.

Cheers,

Matt (Cynapse)

Changelog:

  • Opening a cryopod no longer results in an error.
  • Danger level should properly reset under all circumstances when starting a new game.
  • Bandit groups properly attack at higher levels.
  • Throwing weapon damage reduced for enemies.
  • Explosives deal less damage, and are rarer.
  • Body part replacement panel no longer has blank icons beside the limb/item names.
  • Throwing item panel no longer has blank icons beside item names.
  • When throwing weapons are put into the ranged slot, that item will stay "equipped" though unusable to make picking up the same type of items automatically put them back in your quiver. You can unequip the item to set something else to the slot.
  • Fixed multiple issues with a certain cannibal's quest. He now shows up after completing a different quest line instead of by eating humans.
  • Fixed creatures that share the same body structure duplicating each others' weapons.
  • Areas below ruins have a slightly different look.

I am a huge fan of this game and I am so glad to see how much effort is put into every update and patch. I have a few suggestions that would make the game a bit more friendly without compromising the difficulty too much.

- adding a food merchant that only sells degradable food items (berries, vegetables, etc.)

-adding a warning for food items that are about to spoil

-adding a counter, or gauge, onscreen for radiation exposure

Other than these suggestions I have experienced a few bugs

-when taking the missing person quest and arriving at the specified ruins there was no dungeon entrance. The quest then said it was updated and to return to the quest giver but when interacted with there was no option to complete the quest (as I wasn't even able to search for the assistant)

-on a few occasions as I have been travelling the map I was "attacked by bandits" but even after responding no to their request they did not appear.

-when fighting one of the "kin of the deep" champions I had lured him to another segment of the map before killing him. I was prompted to return to the quest giver but when I went to leave the area the tracker remained pointing to the red devil icon on the first segment I fought the champion and the quest remained incompletable because the text to complete it was not there when I returned to Pleicol.

I hope this information can be useful to you, and if you need any more information please feel free to message me back. I will help in any way possible and I hope you continue working on this project with as much passion as you have been. This game is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! Keep it up!!!!! :)

(1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback :) I hurried up and fixed the majority of the bugs you reported. They were very similar to some previous reports and were immensely helpful in tracking down the culprits. Next hotfix will be out soon!

For your suggestions:

I love the Geiger counter-like radiation indicator on screen. Right now, only a few places passively give radiation, like Swamps. I'll be adding more of these as time goes on.

Food can be found quite easily in barrels, but I do like that as a worldbuilding mechanic. Food merchants should be pretty easy to add.

For food about to spoil, do you mean a log message, or an indicator on the item's name? It definitely would be tedious checking to see which food items are about to go bad.

Of course, I really appreciate all the work that you put into making this game as functional and fluid as you have so I'm glad that I could be of some help. As far as the food spoiling I was talking about a log message, or pop-up. Maybe just something saying that the item has 300 turns left or something along those lines. Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly, and I am really excited to see what you have in store for the game in the future. If I find any more bugs I will be sure to send you a descriptive message and if there is anything else I can help you with please feel free to shoot me a message. Thanks again! :)

Hello again, I found a bug within the ability list (I believe its only happening with the starting ability) I was playing as the heretic and the lightning bolt ability seems to reset its experience and returns to level 1 after saving and then resuming the game. I have a multitude of other abilities that don't lose their experience but I haven't checked this with other classes at this point. It also is not showing the plus 1 damage bonus for being first level. I hope this helps

Very strange. I just tested it myself, and am not seeing the same issue. Level, XP, and damage bonus are all remaining the same between save/load.
